What Solar Incentives Does Missouri Have?

Maximize Your Investment With Solar Incentives

Liberty Utilities Solar Rebate

Just like the the Ameren rebate mentioned above, Liberty Utilities offers the same incentive! So, if you're a customer of this utility and install a solar panel system, you could be eligible for Missouri solar rebates of up to $0.25 per watt for your installation (or $2,000 for an average 8 kW system).

Solar Property Tax Exemption

In addition to getting discounts and rebates on the cost of your solar installation, all solar homeowners in Missouri can also take advantage of the Missouri solar incentives, which include an exemption from property tax increases that would result from installing solar panels on their home.

Kansas City Power & Light Solar Rebate

Net metered solar households supplied by Kansas City Power & Light can receive a rebate payment of up to $0.25 per watt of solar power installed on their home. The payment rates of this rebate program vary based on your application date, so make sure to check with the utility to confirm your eligibility.

The Federal Solar Tax Credit

Don’t forget about federal solar incentives! With the investment tax credit (ITC), now referred to as the Residential Clean Energy Credit for residential systems, you can reduce the cost of your PV solar energy system by 30 percent. Keep in mind that the ITC applies only to those who buy their PV system outright (either with a cash purchase or a solar loan), and that you must have enough income for the tax credit to be meaningful (unless you’re a tax-exempt entity, in which case you might be eligible for a direct payment).

Ameren Missouri's Solar PV Rebate Program

Are you an Ameren customer? If so, you’re eligible for a rebate from your utility when you install a solar panel system. Rebates values vary based on the size of your system and the type of installation: customers can receive $0.25/watt upfront for installing solar panels – for an average 8 kilowatt(kW) system, that comes out to an extra $2,000 in savings. The incentive is capped at 25 kW for residential customers, and 150 kW for commercial or industrial customers.

Columbia Water & Light Solar Rebate

Utilities are required to meet a certain Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) and want to encourage Missouri homeowners to go solar, bringing a chance for solar shoppers to collect some significant cash. Any solar homeowner who is a customer of Columbia Water & Light can get a payment of up to $625 per kilowatt (kW) of solar power generation capacity (up to 10kW). Additional rebates are available for larger system sizes as well.
